On 26 June, representatives of the Institute attended a ceremonial presentation of grants for Balkans Challenges winners, which took place in the facilities of the Dokukino organization. Dokukino is a regional civil society organization established in Belgrade, which, as of last year, has its regional foundation in Sarajevo as well. Their team comprises of experts in internet and social media usage in the battle for democracy, human rights and new regional cooperation.

In April, a public call was launched for supporting and financing projects in transparency and public authority responsibility areas, which rely on new technologies - Balkans Challenges! The call was open for all individuals and organizations from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo. The following four categories were available for project application: transparency, responsibility, public service and the voice of the people. The only condition for applying your project was to anticipate the development of site, portal or web/mobile applications, which would allow a wider community to get involved in solving the problem.

The US Ambassador in BiH Patrick Moon handed awards and certificates to creators of the best web sites and mobile applications. First place was awarded to the Centre 72 project, whose goal was to solve citizen communal problems in just 72 hours. The projects What Can Be Done and Ecovision won second and third place respectively.

During the informal conversation, Ambassador Patrick Moon was presented with activities carried out by the Institute in order to persuade the authorities to care more about the youth.
