The Foundation Center for Public Interests (CPI) organized a Round Table on topic "Buget for the Citizens" on April 5, 2016 at "Europa" Hotel. The work of the Round Table was attended by representatives of executive and legislative government of the Federation of BiH, civil society organizations and independent experts in public finance.          

The analysis entitled "Introducing the Practice of Developing a Budget for Citizens and Proposal of Amendments in Legislation for the Purpose of Introducing Them as the Obligatory Budget Document in the Budget Cycle", developed by the CPI Foundation was presented during the Round Table. This analysis includes the proposal of amendments to laws on budget of entities and the district, which should result in including the development of the Budget for the citizens in the aformenationed laws. In this manner, the Budget for the Citizens would be included in the budget cycle as obligatory, legally binding, understandable and available budget document to all citizens.

The conclusion of the Round Table is the obligatory development of Budget for the Citizens that has a series of advantages for the citizens and the authorities at all levels. The citizens would have easier access to supervision over managing public funds, and would create basis for participation in public discussion. The budget for the citizens has an important role for the authorities as well that would, through its publishing, indicate to its proactive transparency and use its educational role to explain the public the basics budget notions and jurisdiction of different governmental levels.       

This was the third in a row and final round table on topic "Budget for the Citizens" and the previous two were held in Banja Luka and Brčko. The "Budget for the Citizens" Round Table was organized as a part of the "Civil Society Sustainability" project financed by the US Agency for International Development (USAID).          

The Round Table was attended by the representative of the Institute for Youth Development KULT.
