Volunteer and Credit – Show Your Worth! PDF Print E-mail

INFOHOUSE Association, as a part of an already established tradition, is organising a SOCIAL DAY for students from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina. For 2010 the implementation of the project has been planned in maximally 55 cities on the BiH territory, which means that minimally 129 and maximally 209 high schools will participate in the project, which is around 4,000 students, if we count in 20 students on average for every school.

The daily wage for students in firms will be 20 BAM. All the daily wages will be paid to a unique project bank account. Institute KULT hired 8 youth volunteers from BiH for the requirements of volunteering for the Social Day. The volunteers were assigned with their daily tasks that they perform diligenty throughout the working hours. For the occasion, as one of the tasks, the "hired volunteers" were supposed to draft a report on Social Day. We present to you some of their impressions: "During the 7th class, we had a students council meeting… They presented a project of a very interesting name Volunteer and Credit which interested us. It seemed so interesting that we decided to engage in it and accept participation, which was an excellent opportunity to present ourselves at our finest, aid our school, volunteer and gain new experiences. By initiating the project, INFOHOUSE developed an excellent idea – daily wages earned by volunteering will be collected in a joint fund to finance the best youth projects. By volunteering at the KULT we felt as if we stepped in the world of adults. We were assined our working space. Our colleagues, employed at the Educational-Leisure Centre for Youth SPAJALICA handed us our Volonterski dnevnik™ (Volunteer Diaries) and our tasks. We felt eager to work; as if we had entered a Wonderland. We realised that working wasn't scary – 8 young minds working get the job done in no time. Visiting KULT was a "double pleasure". Helping colleagues, soothing working environment, all information in one place – you just wish to be there every day."

At the end of the day, despite being uprepared for the tasks at hand, they demonstrated their ability for performing complex tasks through their results. As a reward for performing their tasks, the volunteers were each given a Volonterski dnevnik™ . When the working day was completed, they listed their performed activities in the diary for which they were awarded points.
